“How To Make iPhone Apps Even If
You’re Frustrated With Xcode
And Hate The iOS SDK!”

The mobile technology revolution has arrived!
Ginormous opportunities for app creators!

The Five Sweetest iOS App Opportunities

Picture Your App Here

  • Publish Your Own iPhone and iPad App
  • Work on Exciting New Projects
  • Score Lucrative Consulting Contracts
  • Work With Cutting Edge Technology
  • Launch a Red-Hot Mobile Startup

Plenty of iOS developers have found all kinds of success creating apps for the iPhone. iOS is the gold standard for mobile apps and Apple has the best customers in the business. You can be a part of this revolution.

It’s not a state secret that mobile iOS development is a sweet opportunity:

  • Instagram Was Bought By Facebook For $750,000,000
  • Smule’s Music App Generated $1,000,000 In It’s First Year
  • Companies Big And Small All Want Mobile Apps
  • Consultants Are Flooded With Work And Charging $175+ Per Hour

It’s no wonder that you ended up here on this page looking for information about how to get started as a mobile developer. Mobile development is the most fun and lucrative time you’ll have with software development today.

Most Newbies #Fail

I’ve heard the stories again and again and it usually comes down to one person trying to master iOS development completely on their own. People think that they can just use the tools and techniques they are used to when creating software. It doesn’t work out that well. Apple is different. People get frustrated and then quit.

Most people waste way too much time trying to learn something this big by themselves. They’ll read outdated books and post on forums populated with elitist developers who have no patience for newbies.

After weeks and months pass, peeps are frustrated and the tools that should be helping them like Xcode, Objective-C and the others seem to be impossible. Certainly, the frustration is understandable. Nobody has a ton of time to burn on elitist development tools that seam counter-intuitive.

HOLD ON – Here is How I Can I Help You…

portrait-with-bookI’m Matthew Campbell and about five years ago I was in the exact same position as you are in today. I was a psychology major working in my cube in a company doing some programming here and there. Mostly data analysis.

In March 2008, Lighting Struck.

That was the fateful day that Steve Jobs announced the App Store. I watched the live stream from my cube and work and realized that I could design, build and sell my own app. The only catch was that I needed a Mac, Objective-C and iOS skills. I didn’t know any of that stuff…

I immediately went to work learning Objective-C and the iOS SDK.

Quickly I found that Objective-C was not like the other 3 or 4 programming langauges that I learned before. Techniques I’d relied on for years just didn’t work in iOS. Things sometimes would “just work” and other times they wouldn’t work at all. It was usually unclear what was going on.

Real Help Was Hard To Come By

iOS SDK information was hard to come by. People who asked questions were told that they were “doing it wrong”. People would be told to “read the entire Apple documentation BEFORE posting questions”. Blog posts were hopelessly outdated because old-school Mac developers refused to use the new versions of Objective-C. In short, mastering Objective-C and iOS SDK was a complete pain in the ass.

Things are not much better for newbies even today.

My Mission To Demystify

These early setbacks made such an impression on me that I decided that I would fix this for other people. The elistist mindset that drove Objective-C and iOS into the edges of the tech world annoyed me so much that I decided to make it my mission to help other people who set out on this path.

But, that mission had to wait until I published my handful of apps. In those early years, I had 9 apps in my portfolio. This was great, but eventually I went back to my mission of helping newbie app developers. First by publishing a few books on the subject:

mattsbooks

At the same time, I started training tons of new iOS developers in places like New York, Philadelphia, Portland, Texas, Seattle, Washington DC, Belgium and Toronto. Some of the companies that I’ve helped are US Bank, Kasier Permanente and Technicolor.

Helping Hundreds Of Developers Like You

iOS Boot Camp is a Foolproof Training System

Now based on all that experience, I’ve developed, tested and optimized a system that really helps newbies master iOS development. This system is the same one I use in my corporate trainings as well as the iOS/iPhone/iPad Boot Camps that I’ve faciliated over the past five years.

I’ve taken extra special care to smooth out the rough edges that hit most new developers. This system, called iOS Boot Camp, includes only the content that you need to master iOS development. iOS Boot Camp includes hands-on lab exercises that will ensure that you actually gain and retain the skills that will make you successful.

iOS Boot Camp helps you become an iOS developer. We start with Objective-C programming so that even if you’re not a programmer yet you will learn to program here. Experienced developers get a refresher course on OOP as seen through the eyes of an Objective-C programmer.

I cover major iOS topics like Objective-C, UIKit, Table Views, Background Processing, Web Services, Storyboards with a case study based around a Universal (iPhone + iPad) App that you will code yourself.

BTW: Check out the testimonial below from one of my students who graduated from iOS Boot Camp last year…

Testimonial: Jadie Barringer III
critical-jadie“Matt – It’s Jadie from November iOS Boot Camp. Just wanted to let you know that ever since I was finished code camp I’ve been working hard on all the things that I learned into developing my own application. I would like to share with you what I’ve done so far. You can go to www.criticalusa.com and check it all out. I’m not fully done the application but hope to be beta testing in the next few weeks.
Let me know what you think and again thank you for everything !!!”
- Jadie Barringer III, Doctor/Developer of the Critical iOS and Android App

iOS Boot Camp Includes a Personal Touch Like No Other

When you get stuck (and you will) I’ll be there to help you. You’ll become part of our private social network were you can post questions whenever you want. I’ll be notified immediately and get back to you quickly.

Having trouble with the hands-on lab? Upload your Xcode project and I’ll record myself debugging your work. You learn from observing and your code gets fixed so you can move on to the next project.

What You Need The Most

Red Umbrella

After going through the process of learning several new programming languages, platforms and frameworks in the past, studying psychology and teaching programming and iOS to so many people over the years I’ve found that these are the most important aspects of training new developers:

  • Motivation
  • Information
  • Practice
  • Support

Motivation

You are probably already motivated to master iOS development. You’ve probably read the stories of indy developers working from home or at Starbucks. Maybe you’ve met consultants working at your own company and seen the kinds of projects they are working on.

Perhaps you realize how cool it will be when you can create your own mobile experience to share with others. Chances are that if you are reading this page you are ready to go.

Information

You will need to know about Objective-C and iOS SDK. There is no way around this if you want to create apps. You can learn yourself right now by Googling and reading through thousands of pages of Apple documentation. Of course, this would take years.

The secret is getting the right information at the right time. What you don’t look at is as important as what you do look at. This is where I can help.

I will provide you will exactly what you need to get to the next level. No more and no less. Don’t waste your time with the blog BS train and focus on what you need to get to your goal faster. iOS Boot Camp is No-BS iOS developer training.

Practice

If you want to be a coder you must code. That’s really it – you are what you do. iOS Boot Camp gives you hundreds of pages of structured coding activities called Hands-On Labs that you can use to practice coding.

Hands-On Labs help you internalize the information that you need to master development. They build confidence and get you to the point where you will be able to generalize what you learned in iOS Boot Camp. This is how you make your own apps.

Support

Everyone gets stuck. Sometimes you can ask exactly the right question on Stack Overflow and immediately get an answer that satisfies you. Sometimes you don’t and sometimes you don’t know how to ask the question and that sucks.

During iOS Boot Camp you can ask questions whenever you want either in the classroom forum or through video conferencing. If you are having a problem with your code projects and want to see how to debug it just ask me and I’ll record a screencast of the debugging procedure. Everyone in class shares the solution so everyone learns from each other.

Sometimes all we need is a little encouragement at the right and that is something we can give to you. During iOS Boot Camp we are all on the same team.

So this is the format that I’ve used to help people like Robert below to jump into mobile development. See what Robert had to say about an iOS Boot Camp he attended last year:

Testimonial: Robert Farnlof
robert-farnlof“I am already a professional programmer and have attended many classes and read countless books about learning new languages during my career. iOS Boot Camp is by far the most effective way to learn a new language. I have and will continue to recommend your course to all of my peers in the programming community.”

Hands-On Labs

The Hands-On Labs are a very important part of the iOS Boot Camp offering. These labs will challenge you to think about solving problems and apply code. The first few labs will emphasize general problem solving with Objective-C while the core part of the program will walk you through the process of building a note taking app for the iPhone. Finally, in the advanced sections you will apply what learned to optimize your app, port your app to the iPad and consume web services.

These lessons, including the Hands-On Labs, are the core feature of the program, but it’s not the whole offering.

Four Week Online/On-Demand Workflow

iOS Boot Camp is devilered completely online over a four week period. Each week you will be notified about what to do next. You will unlock four or five new lessons each week and you will have access to the virtual classroom.
If you choose to, you can complete the entire program all at once and there are no limitations. However, the recommended pace is about 4 lessons per week (~8 hours each week).

Virtual Classroom

You will get all the information that you need from the 16 lessons include in the program. However, I know from experience that you will need support as well. The virtual classroom is how you will get this. Post questions and source code at any time to the virtual classroom. Get and give support and encouragement with other particpants.
You get my personal help during iOS Boot Camp. When you post your source code to the virtual classroom, I will record a screencast of me solving your problem. Everyone will see the solution so the entire class will learn.

Limited Seating

The nature of this type of training requries me to limit the number of participants to only 25 people. I know that I can personally help this number of people and I limit the class to make sure everyone gets the absolute best value for their investment.

NOTE email me directly at matt@mobileappmastery.com if you have any questions that are not answered here so far.

I THINK YOUR COURSE IS FANTASTIC

“I think your course is fantastic. I would recommend it to any one serious about learning IOS. I am really glad that I was able to take it twice. And I look forward to having access to the web site into the future. I plan on taking your advice to actually re-execute all of the labs at home. I now have hard copy of everything. Then I plan on re-writing my app using all that I have learned from this experience.”

I REALLY FOUND THE COURSE HELPFUL

“I really found the course helpful. A friend of mine recommended Matt as an instructor. I would recommend him as well. It was nice being able to start the class in NY and finish it in Philly. I think the repetition really helped me absorb everything. I didn’t care for the NY venue so much. It’s location was great, but I didn’t care for it beyond that. The Philly location was really nice. It was smaller and more intimate, but it was a much cooler venue. Please Thank BlueCadet for allowing us to use their space.”

I appreciate the extra code take homes.
